Pane Cunzato, or seasoned bread, is one of the most traditional dishes of sicilian cuisine. In ancient times, there was a gastronomic custom among the less well-off classes that, in the absence of tasty dressing, they had to make do with rubbing a 'sarda salata' (a small bluefish) on the bread to give it more flavour. Today, pane cunzato represents a delicacy that can be enjoyed in every corner of Sicily and is offered in multiple variations.
